Without question, the New York Mets have been the busiest team at the 2025 MLB trade deadline. After acquiring Tyler Rodgers and Ryan Helsley on Wednesday, the rumors are that the Mets are far from done. Reports are suggesting that their focus has gone away from bullpen help and more towards getting an everyday centerfielder. The player both fans and insiders keep bringing up is Luis Robert Jr.

This is nothing new, as the Mets and Robert have been connected since the offseason. However, they're no longer the main team trying to acquire him. Over the past few days, the Phillies have expressed interest in the White Sox centerfielder. With these two teams fighting for first in the NL East, the Mets need to do whatever it takes to keep Robert out of the city of brotherly love. Here is a package that would guarantee Robert would come to Queens.

Mets acquire Luis Robert Jr. for Luisangel Acuna and Jacob Reimer

Not much needs to be said about the kind of impact Robert would have on the Mets roster. Sure, Robert has not had the offensive numbers that he or the White Sox were expecting. But when you're playing for a team that is coming off a season when they broke the loss record, it's hard to motivate yourself to play well. The hope is that putting him in a pennant race will reignite his passion and allow him to put up numbers similar to those of 2022. Plus, his above-average defense is a bonus.

Reports are suggesting that the White Sox are interested in at least one of the "Baby Mets." While Mark Vientos has been the name floated the most, Luisangel Acuna has also been discussed. Out of the five baby Mets, Acuna is the easiest one to move. With the way the Mets are currently constructed, Acuna is nothing more than a bench piece/pinch runner. A role that is easy to replace. Acuna would be an everyday player for the White Sox, and with him under team control for five more seasons, there is plenty of time for him to live up to his top prospect status.

The White Sox also said they wanted a top 10 prospect for Robert, which is what Reimer is. Few players have been able to raise their value higher than Reimer. He has spent time with both High-A Brooklyn and Double-A Binghamton and has excelled in both. He's flashed his ability to be an all-around hitter, hitting for power with a high average. He's currently the 6th-best prospect in the Mets system according to MLB Pipeline and can easily rise higher.

This deal would give the White Sox two pieces to add to their next core. Acuna can be the top of the order speedster, while Reimer can be the middle of the order bat that drives him in. A perfect duo to acquire in a deal. It's a deal that would go a long way to help both the Mets and White Sox be competitive baseball teams.
