Let it be Mark Vientos who joins the NY Mets Fab Four as a touring member

It was an emotional night for Mark Vientos who was slamming bats early on and took out his rage on a baseball later on. He was the hero of the night for the New York Mets in a one night character arc that saw him fully redeem himself.

The Fab Four clogged up the bases multiple times, eventually adding onto the bulk of the scoring. But it was Vientos’ bases clearing double in the 8th that he might want to use on his audition tape to become at least a touring member of the Fab Four.

Mark Vientos has been a regular atop the Mets lineup and the team could use him up there again right now

Vientos doesn’t need to be a top four hitter on the Mets roster. What he can do, with any level of consistency, is help spread things out a little better. After Pete Alonso, whom we have to probably say is the Ringo Starr of the Fab Four, things drop off. Alonso is Starr because he’s important yet often criticized.

Postgame, Vientos once again had all of the right things to say. The kid is hungry for the opportunity to succeed. For a change, he delivered.

Vientos appears to be in a voice-cracking point of his baseball majority. At times looking too comfortable, almost to a fault where his head wasn’t in the game early on, getting humbled and admitting so was one of the best things for him. Translating this into actual success on the field remains difficult. He’s still behind many of his peers, including Brett Baty, as far as production goes.

A good portion of last season, notably the playoffs, had Vientos batting second for the Mets. With the current lineup construction, it might be a greater challenge for him to sneak back up that high again. No worries. The Mets need a fifth hitter more than anything else. What they’re putting out on the field every night 1 through 4 makes more sense when everyone is playing their best.

Just ahead of Vientos in the lineup, Alonso had his own emotional outburst. He chose manslaughter over assault.

The last week hasn’t been an easy one on the Mets hitters who were essentially called out by the manager the day prior for their lack of results in both halves of the doubleheader; specifically game one. Big hits like this from Vientos can help change the narrative about the team and the individual player. In the recent absence of Starling Marte and Jesse Winker in the matter of days, it’s crucial he at least starts clearing the bases a little more. It has been a rough season for him and yet the double was his tenth of the season, trailing only the members of the Fab Four. Let this be a jumping off point rather than a one-off for a young player coming off a sensational year.
