UPDATE: The game has resumed, as of 5:00 PM EST.
Right now, almost everything is going to plan for the New York Mets. The Mets have a healthy 4.5 game lead in the NL East and they have the second most wins in all of baseball. Aside from some annoying injury issues including the recently dinged up Kodai Senga, one could not ask for much more out of them. However, New York almost certainly would like to get back on track on Saturday after losing the series opener to the Rays, but the weather has it's own agenda.
Against Tampa, the Mets will be sending Tylor Megill to the mound as he looks to build on a strong previous start against the Rockies. He will face off against Rays starter Drew Rasmussen who has been extremely tough in 2025 especially over his last five starters. Sadly, we will have to wait to see if the Mets can handle business as we are in a rain delay. Saturday's game will not begin on time.
**UPDATE: 4:19 PM EST**
Not too long of a wait at all. Barring unexpected changes in the forecast, we will have first pitch at 5 PM EST. Cross your fingers and toes.
First pitch is scheduled for 5pm ⚾️

Mets vs. Rays Rain Delay - 6/14: When will the game start?
At first glance, the radar doesn't look overly promising as it is a pretty big storm system rolling through most of the day. If they decided to call this game off and just have a doubleheader tomorrow, that wouldn't be all that shocking as this delay could number in the hours depending on how this storm behaves.
However, the forecast tomorrow isn't much better than today and neither team here is going to want to have to make up multiple games later on in the season and sacrifice valuable late season off days. The forecast does improve as we get later in the evening and the afternoon game start does give them a reasonable cushion to work with, so you can probably expect the Mets and Rays to play sometime today even if there is a long wait.
We will keep this post updated with all the relevant information you need to navigate this delay including game start time when it comes available as well as any relevant weather forecast updates that pop up. Stay tuned, Mets fans, as we should see some baseball today at some point.
