The Mets have some bad players and then some really bad ones. If you ever want to win in fantasy baseball, you never want to touch these guys.

Lots of people play fantasy baseball, and some players are New York Mets fans. It might be hard to be a player struggling to field a good team while also wanting to use your favorite team.

It’s entirely possible to win with a few Mets players on your team. But there are some players that will just drag you down, and here we are going to list some of them so you know to avoid them.

Two of them aren’t actually on the team, but you’ll know to stay far away if they ever return.

For this, there’s way too many different types of leagues and formats, so we will stick to one specific scoring formula so you will all have an idea of what these players are like.

I’ll let you in on a little spoiler and say that all the players listed are pitchers, so I’ll only list the pitching formula for now. It’s as follows.

Innings pitched – 3 points

Wins – 3 points

Strikeouts – 1 point

Save – 7 points

Hold – 2 points

Quality Start – 4 points

Walks/Hits/HBP – -1 point

Earned Run – -3 points

Loss – -2 points

Blown Save – -1.5 points

Here are the three players you absolutely have to avoid on the Mets.

Chris Flexen

Chris Flexen has made just four appearances with the Mets all season and has pitched poorly in almost all of them. He hasn’t pitched more than three innings yet gave up three or more earned runs twice.

His ERA stands at 12.79 and his WHIP is an insane 3.16. In 6.1 innings, he’s given up nine earned runs on six walks and 14 hits while striking out just three batters.

For the entire season, he’s scored -30 points. In itself, that’s a terrible score, but it’s even worse when you compare it to other players. The Mets worst hitter is Matt den Dekker, who scored -4 points.

Buddy Baumann

If you thought nobody could pitch worse than Flexen, you were wrong. Buddy Baumann pitched in fewer innings and yet gave up more runs.

Like Flexen, he also appeared in four games, and he gave up one or more runs every time. His ERA stands at 27 and his WHIP is 4.80.

In 3.1 innings, he gave up ten earned runs on seven walks and nine hits. In total, he scored -36 points.

Jason Vargas

If you have been watching the Mets, then you automatically knew who the worst spot was going to go to. Jason Vargas is the only player of the three who still pitches and you need to take extra caution around him.

His ERA is 8.23 and He’s given up at least two earned runs in each of his last five starts. During those same five starts, he’s scored 5 points, 1 point twice, -1 point, and -26 points.

In 47 innings, Vargas gave up 43 runs on 20 walks and 64 hits. His record stood at 2-7 and He’s since scored a total of -41 points. There are eight pitchers in all of baseball who have scored fewer points than Vargas, only two of them are active.

Pat Roessler deserves more blame than he gets. Next

If you play fantasy baseball and you’re thinking of using some players from your favorite team, make sure that you stay away from these guys.
