The New York Mets play a brand of baseball in which every player on the roster contributes to incredible victories night in and night out. It's hard to pick out one standout player, as it seems every night, a new player helps the Mets get over the top.

However, there is one player on the Mets roster who could easily be considered the best-starting pitcher among the teams remaining in the postseason. To many baseball fans' surprise that pitcher is none other than southpaw Jose Quintana, who has been on an absolute roll when it has mattered the most to the Mets.

Jose Quintana has provided the Mets with an unprecedent run of recent starts.

Quintana who was dominant on Wednesday night against the Phillies over five innings has pitched to a miniscule 0.57 ERA over his last eight starts, which many fans could not have seen coming after the rough month of May he had with a 7.20 ERA over 5 starts. What's even more impressive about these numbers over his last 8 starts is Quintana isn't known as a big strikeout pitcher, however, he always seems to work around the strike zone and get soft contact outs.

The Mets are going to need more of that magic in Quintana's left arm as they approach the NLCS on Sunday. But it seems like he loves the big moment as he has now gone 3 straight postseason starts with at least 5 innings pitched while giving up no earned runs. Only one other pitcher in baseball history has a longer streak and that is Whitey Ford who did it back in 1960-1961 over 4 starts.

The Mets arguably have the best rotation in the postseason right now and it's not a reach to say Jose Quintana is currently pitching the best out of any starting pitcher in baseball at this very moment. He'll look to tie Whitey Ford's record in his next start which will most likely come back at Citi Field in the NLCS.
