Things have not been going well in Queens.

The start of the New York Mets' season has been sub par to say the least, but Justin Verlander's return from the IL gave them hope. Now, the team 1-2 in his three starts including an 8-5 loss to the Rays where he gave up six earned runs in 5.0 innings.

So, where do they go from here. Can they find some kind of momentum in Game 2 against the Rays on Wednesday night?

Let's dive into the odds for the game and then I'll give you my best bet.

Rays vs. Mets odds, run line, and total

Rays vs. Mets prediction and pick

If there's a positive to take away from last night's loss to the Rays, it's that the Mets offense may be finally starting to wake up. They score five runs in the loss and now have averaged six runs over their last three games.

Josh Fleming will get the start for the Rays and he's expected to play three or four innings. After using five different pitchers yesterday, the Tampa Bay bullpen may start to be depleted in today's games.

That should bode well for the Mets offense.

Unfortunately, Kodai Senga will get the start for the Mets and he hasn't been great so far this season either. He has a 4.14 ERA but a 4.95 FIP and he's yet to face a top tier offense so far this season. Now, he has to take on the best offense in baseball in the Rays.

The Rays also lead the Majors in runs per away game at 6.48.

Let's hope the Mets can get the win but I think this will be an offensive shootout regardless of the winner. Bet the OVER.
