This time of the year is the most exciting time for the New York Mets and their fans. During this month, the Mets released their 2023 promotions, sent out their annual gifts for season ticket holders, and for the first time, they have announced an idea in the works to offer cheaper tickets to a portion of their younger audience.

College students will get a chance to save big money on Mets tickets

The Mets have announced that they are working on a ticket plan for college students so they can afford to attend more games while not spending an arm and a leg. They had a press conference explaining the idea (seen below).

As we all know, college students like myself don't have the most significant budget to get school supplies, nevermind to attend a Major League Baseball game. Well, the Mets want to change that by offering a 15$ ticket plan option which they announced would be through text message. More details will come on how the ticket plan will work, but this is a brilliant idea.

Going to a Major League Baseball game these days is immensely expensive. Paying for your tickets, parking, food, and team merchandise puts a big dent in people's pockets, and it limits people from going to a certain number of games a year, especially college students.

Major League Baseball wants to grow in popularity, and one way it will do so is by attracting a younger audience. This includes college students. Many college students love their baseball teams but can't attend many games because they worry about spending money on supplies for school, student loans, etc.

The Mets want to be the first team to help out those college students, which is another way owner Steve Cohen is buidling the Mets brand. This will soon be a reality for college students that are Mets fans, and I wouldn't be surprised if other teams follow in the Mets' footsteps with an idea like this.
