We hope this player's awesome spring carries into the regular season

The New York Mets, this spring training, have seen some of their players do well and improve and others who didn't. Brett Baty, Mark Vientos, and Ronny Mauricio all looked great and look like they definitely have potential to be on the major league roster in the future. Tim Locastro shined and was able to earn himself a spot on the big league roster.

Then there were guys like Francisco Alvarez who looks like he still needs some time to get to that potential he has. Eduardo Escobar looked bad this spring training and looks like he may not end up being that starting third baseman if this continues. However, out of all those players there is one that wasn't named that can definitely try to carry this huge spring that he had over into the regular season. That man is Tomas Nido.

In the spring training games that Nido played in he hit .359, had 3 home runs and 5 RBIs in 39 at bats. Obviously, Nido is not a power hitter and we don't expect that much power out of him. However, if he can continue this hot streak he is on right now into the regular season, he can definitely be a valuable asset for this team. The Mets need a hitting catcher badly as they haven't really had one the past few years. The catcher spot has been a weak spot in the Mets lineup and Nido can turn that around this year.

Mets catcher Tomas Nido had a great spring we hope carries into the regular season

Now, we know Tomas Nido's defense is phenomenal, but his weakness has always been his offense. Last season Nido ended the season with a .239 batting average. Now he has the chance to put that season behind him and try to improve this year and stay hot into the regular season. With Omar Narvaez being here maybe he will give Nido that competitive drive to push himself to improve and continue this hot streak he's riding into the regular season and beyond.

Narvaez was not good at all last season when he was with the Brewers by any means. He hit a horrid .204 in 84 games with the Brewers. However, he had a great spring training with the Mets this season. He hit .304 with 1 home run and 1 RBI in 23 at bats. So, Nido definitely has that competition there for that catcher position. Mets fans really want a good season from their catchers. They do not want to see another season like the ones we had with James McCann, as we've seen how those have gone.

We shall see what Nido has in store for this season. Will he continue his hot streak into the regular season or will he go cold? He has a chance at continuing that streak and Mets fans will definitely enjoy a good hitting season from Nido if he can get right from the jump. This is going to be an interesting season for the New York Mets and hopefully a fun one. The season is just days away and it will be interesting to see how Nido will respond.
