Mets top prospect Ronny Mauricio is going to take over the second base soon

Little by little, the Mets have had to give in to their plan to play their veterans and use their prospects to improve their offense. The fans have waited a long time to see their top prospects, come up and play every day. Now only Ronny Mauricio is missing.

Mauricio was off the organization's radar after a few years of low offensive performance and a terrible hitter profile caused by a high level of strikeouts and poor plate discipline. However, since he participated in the Dominican Winter League, where he was elected MVP of the regular season, the Dominican has shown an enormous offensive level.

This exposure in the winter league of his country caused a change in Mauricio's batting profile. This season he has vastly improved his pitch recognition, lowering his strikeout rate by six percentage points while increasing his walk rate. This has turned the Dominican into a quality hitter, raising his wOBA well above .400.

Mauricio could be in MLB in a matter of days. This would cause the departure of Mark Canha from the lineup, leading to Jeff McNeil playing permanently in the LF while Mauricio takes over the second base. It would be a Latino double-play combination between Francisco Lindor and the Dominican Mauricio.

This move would have a knock-on effect, causing Tommy Pham's departure from the roster. The Mets will sooner or later take this approach with the team, and the offense will be very different. While this arrives, we will continue with the slogan "Let the kids play".

Next. White Sox players the Mets should be scouting for a trade. dark
