Last 5 Mets players with 100 RBI: Francisco Lindor (2022)
The Mets trade for shortstop Francisco Lindor in 2021 was franchise-altering as they were getting not only a sliver slugger but also a gold glover at short that the Mets have longed for. But in his first season in Flushing, it did not go the way Lindor or the Mets would have hoped.
Lindor only wound up hitting 20 home runs with 69 RBI with a batting average of .230 in 125 games which got fans worried about whether or not this was the right trade to make after letting go of fellow infielders Ahmed Rosario and Andres Gimenez in the trade package. But 2022 was a complete turnaround for "Mr. Smiles," which got Mets fans excited about what he can do in his next several years with the club after a down season in 2021.
Lindor missed all but one game in 2022 and hit 26 homes with 107 RBI which was a career-high for him that season and set numerous Mets records during that season as well. And just like Alonso, he had record-breaking performances in 2022 as after he recorded his 82nd RBI of the season, he broke former Mets shortstop Jose Reyes' record of most RBI by a Mets shortstop. Lindor also hit his 24th home run of the season against the Pirates on September 24th which broke Reyes' record again as this one was for most home runs by a Mets shortstop in team history.
