The New York Mets have had a long and glorious (and sometimes inglorious) history. While many of the individual accomplishments of note have been by pitchers, their hitters have also recorded some milestones of their own. Hitting streaks can be helped along by luck as bloops fall in for hits and blasts are caught at the wall. These are the top three (or maybe more) longest hitting streaks in the history of the Mets.
Longest hitting streaks in the history of the New York Mets
Honorable Mention: Mike Vail - 23
Mike Vail was a rookie who burst on the scene in 1975. In only the fifth game of his career, he would begin a famous 23-game hitting streak. At the time, it was both a franchise and major league rookie record. The Mets believed that had a budding star in Vail so to make room for him, they traded Rusty Staub to Detroit for an over the hill Mickey Lolich. Mike Vail suffered an injury playing basketball in the off season and was never the same. During his three years in New York, he would hit .262 while slugging only 11 HRs.

Third Place (Tie): Hubie Brooks - 24
Hubie Brooks was already a fan favorite by 1984. This was also the year of the big turnaround for the franchise and Brooks was a big part of it. Brooks hit in 24 straight games from May 1 to June 1. The team would finish in second place that season with a record of 90-72. By 1986 the Mets were World Champions, but Hubie Brooks wouldn’t be around to see it. He was shipped off to Montreal as part of the Gary Carter deal that off season.

Third Place (Tie): Mike Piazza - 24
Mike Piazza was a mainstay of the New York Mets batting order throughout his career in Queens. From May 25 to June 22, 1999, his first full season with the Mets, Piazza hit in 24 consecutive games. In this stretch, he had 36 hits with 8 HRs and 18 RBIs, leading the team to the post season, all the way to the NLCS before losing to the Braves. Piazza is one of the greatest hitting catchers in the history of major league baseball
Longest hitting streaks in the history of the New York Mets:
Second Place (Tie): Wilson Ramos - 26
Wilson Ramos' time with the Mets may have been short, but he managed to make the most of it with a 26 game hitting streak in 2019. He hit .288 that year for the Mets but followed it up with only a .239 batting average in 2020. Ramos then signed with Detroit as a free agent but retired the following year.
Longest hitting streaks in the history of the New York Mets:
Second Place (Tie): David Wright - 26
David Wright had a 26-game hitting streak in 2006. The hitting streak didn’t end at the close of the season but lasted into 2007. While it may not have been accomplished in only one season, it is still considered here. Wright had a monster year in 2006 with 26 HRs, 116 RBIs, and a .311 BA. He only got better in 2007, hitting 30 HRs with 110 RBIs and a .325 BA. Wright is truly one of the New York Mets all-time greats.
Longest hitting streaks in the history of the New York Mets:
First Place: Moises Alou - 30
Moises Alou had a 17 year major league career and spent 2007-2008, with the Mets. Alou set a franchise record by hitting in 30 consecutive games, from Aug. 31 to Sept. 27. Alou was 41 years old at the time, and his streak is the longest of any player over 40 and the longest by any New York Met.
There you have it. The top 3, which somehow became 6, longest hitting streaks in the history of the New York Mets. Records are made to be broken, so let’s who will be on this list next year.
