In hockey, the Gordie Howe Hat Trick occurs when a player scores a goal, has an assist, and gets in a fight. New York Mets fans have a different hat trick. It takes place on Twitter and involves getting blocked by three specific people affiliated with the organization.

Chances are, you have already been blocked by at least one of these men.

If former Mets third baseman Todd Frazier hasn’t blocked you, you aren’t on social media enough

Todd Frazier may have invented blocking people on Twitter. He has blocked the Rising Apple Twitter account. I’m not even sure why. Someone probably predicted he wouldn’t hit .250.

It’s a shame because Frazier seemed to have a fun personality. He gave Pete Alonso the nickname Polar Bear and if the team had actually been any good with him around, he would have been a fan favorite. Alas, Frazier is far more known for blocking fans on social media than anything else.

Former Mets pitcher Marcus Stroman may not block you, instead mock you

Marcus Stroman is one of baseball’s most active Twitter users. He isn’t afraid to pounce on critics. It’s refreshing until it isn’t.

Stroman isn’t as much of a blocker as Frazier. Instead, he chooses to mock fans. He will go after his critics. Unlike Frazier, who turns the other cheek and chooses to block out any bad vibes, Stroman preaches positive vibes only and then gets upset when someone has something nasty to say.

You probably don’t mind being blocked by Mets insider Andy Martino

Andy Martino follows zero people on Twitter. I don’t know about you but something about this seems arrogant. I personally don’t mind his reporting because it’s usually just stating some pretty obvious statements. The Mets are looking to trade for a starting pitcher! No, duh.

Because he isn’t an athlete, Martino tends to get dragged through the mud by fans a little more. A part of me wants to feel bad for him. Then I remember it’s his actions on Twitter that complete this unique hat trick many Mets fans have experienced without even trying to.
