2. Jose Butto

What an outing by Jose Butto yesterday! After making one start against the Detroit Tigers on April 4 and then getting sent back down to Triple-A, he made sure that his start against the Kansas City Royals on Sunday would be one that keeps him in the MLB for a while

Butto pitched six scoreless against the Royals and allowed just two hits, walked one batter and struck out nine batters. He was simply dominating the Royals and if this is not a welcoming surprise for the Mets, I don't know what is. The Mets starting pitching is already without their primary ace, Kodai Senga for at least another month or maybe more, so it was very important and encouraging to see Butto pitch like he did against the Royals.

Especially on the day the Mets were retiring legendary starting pitcher Dwight Gooden's number, it was very important for Butto to have a solid start and he did just that and then some.
