Cardinals vs. Mets prediction and odds for Sunday, June 18 (Value on total)
The St. Louis Cardinals and New York Mets wrap up a weekend series with each team trying to find its form from last season when each team made the postseason.
Both teams are under .500 at the moment with a handful of issues plaguing the teams. However, with a high total, are the offenses getting too much credit? Let's dive into the betting odds and our best bet for Mets-Cardinals on Sunday:
Cardinals vs. Mets odds, run line and total
Cardinals vs. Mets prediction and pick
The Mets are trying to tread water without Pete Alonso in the lineup, but the team is lacking pop in the lineup, batting only .218 in the month of June in which the slugger has missed half the team's games in that span. However, the team should show out against Cardinals right hander Matthew Liberatore, who has a 5.14 ERA but that's supported by a 6.77 xERA.
Liberatore has been crushed by hard contact and even with some concern about the depth of the Mets lineup, the team can tee off on the right hander who is grading out in the 10th percentile in expected slugging percentage.
There is similar concern for Carrasco, though, who has already spent time on the injured list this season and has an xERA of 6.08. Like Liberatore, he has been getting lucky this season despite poor results, posting an expected slugging percentage in the 12th percentile.
Both offenses have struggled of late, St. Louis is hitting just .229 in June in addition to the Mets plight at the plate, but back both to get it going on Sunday against two suspect pitchers.
