At 5:29pm, the skies opened up in South Philadelphia and the game between the New York Mets and Philadelphia Phillies went into a delay.

The fans fleed for coverage and the umpires asked the players to exit the field with Philadelphia leading 6-1 with Kodai Senga on the mound and a full count to Derek Hill. Three balls in the dirt from Senga was enough to convince the umpires to call upon the grounds crew for the tarp.
Stay tuned for updates on the game possibly resuming. The forecast has the weather clearing out by the 7 o'clock hour. Fortunately, the start time was moved from 4:05pm to 3:05pm which allowed for the game to go official. It'll be interesting if this one picks up again at all with the unpredictable nature of the thunderstorms roaring through the entire Northeast and beyond. If the Mets were contending, we'd probably expect this one to possibly resume tomorrow. Based on how their season has gone, this might be a white flag game awarding Philadelphia with a win.
While the delay goes on, maybe Keith Hernandez can cut some roses.

Mercifully, it should mark the end of Senga's day on the mound.
