January 7, 2021, was a signal to all New York Mets fans that Steve Cohen was legit. The Mets pulled off a massive trade with the Cleveland Indians (now Guardians) for Francisco Lindor and Carlos Carrasco. It was a different kind of trade than we had seen in the recent past. The notion, immediately, was the Mets would extend him. They managed to ink him to a 10-year deal worth $341 million.
We know where Lindor is. What about the other pieces? Where are they right now and what have they been up to?
Where everyone from the 2021 Mets trade for Francisco Lindor is right now
Carlos Carrasco
The other player acquired by the Mets, Carlos Carrasco had one bad year, one good one, and another bad one in Queens. He spent 2025 with the New York Yankees and Atlanta Braves (pitching in the minors regularly). This offseason, he agreed to return to the Braves on a minor league deal.
Amed Rosario
Now in journeyman status, Amed Rosario has bounced around with multiple teams. Maybe the most fascinating uniform swap came when he was traded by Cleveland to the Los Angeles Dodgers for Noah Syndergaard in 2023. He has played for multiple teams, most recently with the Yankees at the end of 2025. He re-signed with them to be a utility man with the main purpose being to smack left-handed pitchers around.
Andres Gimenez
The other main player in this trade was Andres Gimenez. He signed an extension with Cleveland, but after an offensive decline, the Guardians traded him away to the Toronto Blue Jays. Luckily for him, Gimenez managed to appear in his first World Series in 2025 and gave the Blue Jays fortification at shortstop while Bo Bichette was out. He’s likely to be their shortstop moving forward with three Gold Gloves at second base, suggesting he’d be an improvement over Bichette who ranks as one of the game’s worst defensive players.
Isaiah Greene
Somehow only 24 as of last August, Isaiah Greene spent last year in the MLB Draft League despite being drafted in the past. They might need a new name. Greene hit .188 in High-A before the Guardians released him. Hitting only .243 last season, it might be a while before Greene gets signed to a minor league contract by an affiliated team.
Josh Wolf
The other player without MLB experience from this trade was pitcher Josh Wolf. He made his way from the Guardians to the San Francisco Giants in 2024. He has reached High-A but with a 5.16 ERA and 8.2 BB/9 rate, signs aren’t pointing upward. Wolf became a free agent after the 2025 season and has yet to sign.
