3) Hunter Harvey
Harvey was one of my predictions for the Mets' free-agent acquisitions, and it wouldn't hurt to add him as a lower-end reliever in the bullpen. Due to several injuries in 2025, Harvey was limited to just 10.2 scoreless innings. That, combined with a subpar 2024 season, should make him a relatively cheap option despite several good years with the Nationals beforehand.
Knowing David Stearns will want to, for the most part, keep his pitching signings cheap this winter, Harvey should be the perfect acquisition in his eyes. He would provide solid depth to the Mets' bullpen while also being a sneaky bounce-back candidate. Although sidelined for most of 2025, Harvey was elite when he was on the mound, as his 10.2 scoreless innings of work reflect.
Harvey isn't a top reliever, but he has seven years of big-league experience with proven past success. After a rough 2024 season, he looked to be getting himself back on track before the injuries last year, and he deserves another opportunity to shine in 2026. The career of a relief pitcher is often full of ups and downs, and a chance to shine in a big market can prove worthwhile for Harvey -- and for the Mets as well.
