It takes a special kind of prospect to standout in the Dominican Summer League. Elian Pena, as the recipient of the highest signing bonus in New York Mets history for an amateur free agent, managed to live up to the hype.

After a slow start, Pena ended with a .292/421/.528 slash line and 9 home runs in 55 games. He’s well on his way to becoming one of the best prospects the Mets have. Give him time and he should have a chance to be one of the best in the entire league.

Pena wasn’t the only Mets prospect who played well in the DOSL. These five others had some big performances that are sure to help elevate them.

Five Mets prospects who had an impressive DOSL stint in 2025 other than Elian Pena

1) Heriberto Rincon

A .314/.383/.438 slash line for Heriberto Rincon came with 34 stolen bases in just 53 games played. Rincon’s power is light, hitting only a pair of home runs. This was Rincon’s third year in the DOSL and second hitting over .300. In 2024, he batted just .207. Ready for the next step, it’ll be interesting to see if he can become a legitimate future center field candidate or a forgotten part of the farm.

2) Josmir Reyes

Last year was the first full season for Josmir Reyes, a catcher/first baseman who hit .300/.426/.480 with 4 home runs. Maybe the most outstanding was that Reyes walked 34 times and struck out 15 times. This kind of plate discipline is hereditary.

3) Osiris Calvo

With a team-high 43 innings, Osiri Calvo made the most of them. The 21-year-old was 5-1 with a 2.51 ERA. He missed all of 2024 and rebounded nicely with a strong 9.4 K/9 rate and outstanding 1.9 BB/9. He’ll be a lower-level pitching prospect to keep a close eye on.

4) Julio Gonzalez

Julio Gonzalez wasn’t quite as good as Calvo, but was one of the better pitchers in the DOSL the Mets had. The Mexico-born righty was 3-1 with a 2.55 ERA. His 0.93 WHIP was slightly better than the 0.97 posted by Calvo. Gonzalez accomplished this with an unmatched 5.6 H/9 rate.

5) Yovanny Rodriguez

Yovanny Rodriguez is on the rise, hitting .345/.459/.504 with a team-high 41 hits last year for the Mets Blue team. The 18-year-old catcher only hit 2 home runs and has been a lightly-powered, good contact hitter since going pro in 2024. He’s going to be someone to watch carefully in the coming year as a quick-riser. He is already considered one of the organization’s top 30 prospects.
