5 recent seasons when no NY Mets player won a major award

No Gold Gloves. No Silver Sluggers. No awards at all in these years for Mets players.

MLB hands out trophies like they own stock in the industry. In abundance these days with things like All-MLB first team and even an All-MLB second team just to attempt to get fans riled up over snubs, the New York Mets have, even in down years, come away with award winners.

We've already had Juan Soto and Pete Alonso win Silver Sluggers for their 2025 performances. In 2024, Francisco Lindor earned a Silver Slugger and an All-MLB second team placement. Ironic, of course, because Lindor was the MVP runner-up. Someone needs to recount the votes.

What about recent years where no Mets player won anything at all? These are the five most recent seasons when no Mets player won a thing.

2021

The league didn’t give out a “Best Feud with the Hometown Fans” award which might’ve been the only one handed out to a Mets player. The ill-fated 2021 team couldn’t hit, didn’t have enough pitching, and collapsed after the trade deadline in a winnable NL East. Jacob deGrom missed half the year, spoiling any chance of someone taking home hardware.

2017

A few years earlier than the 2021 Mets, an even worse ball club was assembled. Finishing 70-92, it was the epic conclusion to at least the veteran phrase of the team that went to back-to-back playoffs for only the second time in franchise history. Multiple soon-to-be free agents were dealt midseason leading to a lackluster finish to a forgettable season. The team’s pitching was horrendous. Most of the team’s hitters were traded or missed significant time due to injury.

2013

The 2013 Mets were remembered best for the emergence of Matt Harvey who clarified his 10 starts the year prior were no fluke. He finished fourth in the Cy Young race on a stagnant ball club not yet ready to compete for much of anything. Juan Lagares would win a Gold Glove the following season and Jacob deGrom took home Rookie of the Year honors. The Mets haven’t had a Gold Glove winner since Lagares.

2009-2011

Let’s get this out of the way in one swoop. Yeah, it’s technically adding on a year. But that three-year period of 2009-2011 was all kind of the same. It blends together to make a disappointment smoothie. Clearly, after the 2008 collapse, the team was going to take time to recover. They finished in fourth place in the NL East each season winning 70, 79, and 77 games in each of them. It was the early days of Citi Field where the color of the outfield wall was hardly the darkest shade of blue present. After a 2008 season which saw Carlos Beltran and David Wright win Gold Gloves plus the Captain earning a Silver Slugger, it was a period of little individual and team success. Unfortunately, the Mets seemed to be the last to know.
