2) Adrian Gonzalez
Adrian Gonzalez is one of those NY Mets players about which you could say if you blinked you might have missed him. He had come and gone so fast that not many Met fans remember that he did make one more stop at Citi Field before he hung up his spikes,
Gonzalez had been a very productive hitter in his major league career which included stops in Los Angeles, San Diego, Boston, and Texas before signing a one-year contract with the NY Mets on January 18, 2018. His career statistics included 317 home runs, 1202 RBIs with a batting average of ,287, and the Mets believed they could squeeze one more productive season from this fifteen-year veteran.
Gonzalez was in the NY Mets 2018 Opening Day lineup but at age 36, it quickly became obvious that his best days were behind him. In 54 games with the Mets, Gonzalez batted a mere .237. He could muster only three hits in his final 27 at-bats with the team. On June 10, 2018, the Mets granted González his unconditional release. Later that year, he attempted a comeback attempt in the Mexican League, but it was short-lived.
