NY Mets find their Freddy Peralta trade partner after Tarik Skubal miss

The New York Mets and Tampa Bay Rays are reportedly in agreement on a trade that will send Freddy Peralta to the AL East.

According to the NY Post’s Joel Sherman, 3 players are headed to New York in the deal pending physicals.

Given the season he has had on top of the fact the Mets only gave up two prospects to acquire him, we can figure there’s a good chance none of the four top 100 prospects the Rays possess are in the trade.

Peralta leaves the Mets with a 5-9 record and 4.99 ERA. There’s no way to spin it. He was a disappointment. Meant to be the team’s new ace, even awarded the Opening Day start over Nolan McLean after his ace-like rookie campaign, Peralta’s reputation as a 5-inning a game pitcher was the least of his problems.

Less than a strikeout per inning and a rise in his walk totals led to the atrocious one year with the Mets. By the time we got through May, all thoughts of an extension were dead. Previous reports of Peralta wanting a Max Fried-like contract went from curious to laughable.
