3) Jarren Duran (or any of the other Red Sox outfielders)

Jarren Duran is the likeliest of the Boston Red Sox outfielders to get traded. He’s the oldest, most expensive, and maybe even the least talented at the moment. In a crowded outfield mix with newcomers helping to push him out the door, Duran has some limitations offensively, but could be a really good match for what the Mets are trying to accomplish.

The other Red Sox outfielders would cost a whole lot more because of their age and fact they’re more on the rise while Duran seems to have shown exactly what he can do. Wilyer Abreu and Ceddane Rafaela each won Gold Gloves, further adding to the cost of what it would take to obtain them.

Because the Red Sox are getting tied up in their outfield, we can be certain someone goes. The Mets and Red Sox have made multiple smaller trades since Sterans arrived. This would be their biggest by far.

Where we might dismiss Duran as a fit is how he performed defensively last year. His OAA ranked as one of the worst among left fielders.

If the Mets are making him their left field replacement for Nimmo, the only real benefit is a lower salary and fewer birthday candles on the cake. If the next move (or two) is a result of either of them, this matches better. At the moment, we can poke holes in the logic.

TLDR: A good mix of everything and appears very available.
