2) Ty Adcock

He’s still here? Unbelievable, Ty Adcock has managed to stay on the Mets 40-man roster despite limited action in the major leagues. In 3 games and as many innings, Adcock allowed a run on 2 hits. The results aren’t as important as structuring the entirety of the roster. At 28, he’s youthful enough to think maybe there’s some untapped potential. The results in Syracuse this season tell us not to get our hopes up too high.

In 24.1 innings in Triple-A, Adcock has pitched to a 4.81 ERA. He hasn’t walked a whole lot of batters (3.3 BB/9) and his WHIP isn’t so terrible at 1.15. It would seem Adock is just a victim of letting anyone who gets on base against him score. He has given up 19 hits and allowed 13 earned runs plus another 4 unearned.

Adcock spent a part of last year with the Mets, giving up 7 earned runs in 4.1 big league innings. He was better in the minors, pitching to a 3.93 ERA in 18.1 innings of work.

A nameless, faceless part of the 40-man roster who can be easily replaced, he’s lingering around until someone better comes along.
