4) Luisangel Acuna

The addition of Semien might actually hurt Luisangel Acuna more than many other Mets players. He has shown he can play second base defensively at a pretty high level. The Mets fell in love with using him as a defensive replacement at the position late last season. Now, with Semien around, they have less of a reason to keep him. He isn't a third baseman. He isn't going to play much shortstop. Even if he ventures into center field, is he going to be better than Tyrone Taylor?

Acuna's fall to role player is both disappointing and acceptable. His blazing speed makes him an intriguing bench piece ot have around for the coming year regardless of how the rest of the roster looks. Still, with him being nothing more than a pinch runner option potentially, the Mets can always use him in a trade package and replace him with any number of quick-footed players who may be able to provide them with defense at greater positions of need.

Something's gotta give in the crowded Mets infield. Acuna has shown there are serious limits on how his bat will play at the major league level. His trade value isn't great and with no more minor league options left, teams will have to really like him. The Mets can use him, but if he doesn't start to show more as a hitter, their former number one prospect could end up DFA'd before we know it.

Prediction: He's the 26th man on the bench.
