5 former NY Mets players who signed with an NL East rival this offseason

Once upon a time Mets players, they're not front and center as our enemies in 2025.

2) Chasen Shreve

Chasen Shreve managed to pitch his way onto the 2022 Mets Opening Day roster. It’s kind of amazing how the team was as good as they were with a player like him on the club for as long as he lasted. Shreve had actually been with the Mets previously in 2020 where he delivered a 3.96 ERA in 25 innings of work. This time, he’d get 26.1 innings but with much different results.

At the time when the Mets had finally seen enough, Shreve was 1-1 with a 6.49 ERA. Home runs became his Achilles heel. He served up 6 of them in the limited time. In 2025, Shreve will have a chance to make the Atlanta Braves roster.

3) Amed Rosario

And the award for the most well-known former Mets player to come back to the NL East goes to…Amed Rosario. Now a journeyman utility player, it’s hard to believe he has spent as many MLB seasons away from the Mets as he did with them: 4. Rosario had a fine start to his career with the Mets from 2017-2020 but he was no Francisco Lindor thus the trade with Cleveland to swap the two and more.

Rosario’s career has been typical of what he did for the Mets. He can hit for average but can’t draw a walk if the existence of humanity depended on it. He played with three different clubs last year, technically earning a possible World Series ring by playing 5 games for the Los Angeles Dodgers. He’ll have a harder time adding another to his collection this coming season. Rosario will suit up for the Washington Nationals.
