4) Milwaukee Brewers for Freddy Peralta

The Milwaukee Brewers would much prefer to prioritize pitching for Freddy Peralta. A player like Baty, who has shown he is more than a third baseman but also a pretty good player at that position, would be a fine fit for them. Their team lacked power last season despite winning more games than anyone else. He’d be a nice match for their infield.

Ideally, Milwaukee should add a top pitching prospect with MLB-ready abilities for Peralta along with (maybe) a bat who can contribute, too. Baty and Brandon Sproat? It would really depend on how they feel about Baty.

It does seem as if the Brewers have enough reason to pass over Baty, though. Caleb Durbin had a fine rookie season. Their reluctance to trade Peralta thus far seems to suggest they won’t. They’ve had a stagnant offseason. This would give them a bit of a change. They don’t really need it, though. They just need to keep things together and improve in some other spots.

The more major league help the Brewers can acquire for Peralta, the easier it will be to sell to the fans that trading him wasn’t such a bad thing. In a light regard, they did exactly that with the trade to acquire Durbin last offseason. They traded Devin Williams to the New York Yankees for him and Nestor Cortes. The latter didn’t work out so well .Cortes made two starts due to injury. They traded him at the deadline to the San Diego Padres.
