2) Ryne Stanek- RP, NYM

This is a fantastic sign for the Mets. With Edwin Diaz being Edwin Diaz, the addition of Gregory Soto, Reed Garrett's recent success, and Ryne Stanek's dominant second-half thus far, the Mets are building a dangerous bullpen. Aside from Diaz, there isn't anyone you want stepping onto the mound more than Stanek right now.

Since major league baseball resumed, Stanek has appeared in five games and five innings. He is still waiting to allow an earned run, and he is still waiting to allow a walk, all the while he has tacked on two saves and a hold to his stat sheet. He's been as reliable as reliable gets. While he's allowed a few hits here and there, he hasn't allowed any of them to get home. And that's all that matters.

Last night, on the night that his namesake Ryne Sandberg passed away, he made him proud with a quick one-two-three inning, extending his runless streak another night.

It's becoming clear that the bullpen has the potential to be a weapon, and if the Mets are truly going to make a march to October, a safe bet would be that it's driven largely by the relief pitching. I don't know that anyone, aside from Diaz, will be a bigger piece of that bullpen than Stanek. He has become, and can continue to be, one of the key factors in winning if he maintains this level of performance.
