You may have forgotten they were ever Mets or maybe didn't realize they played for the Yankees or Dodgers this season.

Does everyone who appeared in a game for a World Series winning team actually get a ring? The lore of just needing to show up at some point in the regular season lives on and is in fact true. It’s not a requirement, but teams do generally hand out as much jewelry as possible. It’s why the ring ceremony for Julio Teheran if the New York Mets pulled off a championship season would have been a long-lasting joke among fans.

The New York Yankees and Los Angeles Dodgers continue their battle for World Series supremacy. Both teams have several former Mets who’ll take a ring if their team wins. Marcus Stroman, of course. Phil Bickford, Michael Tonkin, and Yohan Ramirez, too. What about those more forgotten members of the Mets?

1) Elieser Hernandez

Elieser Hernandez was a member of the ill-fated 2023 Mets season or so the internet would have you believe. Picked up in an offseason trade with the Miami Marlins in the offseason, he never ended up making a big league appearance at all for the Mets due to injury. This year he pitched in 9.2 innings for the Dodgers and allowed 9 earned runs. If there’s a place to draw the line at World Series rings, he’s right on it.

2) Dennis Santana

Another member of the 2023 Mets, Dennis Santana has played for a couple of teams that won recent World Series including the Dodgers. Did he get a ring with the 2020 Dodgers? In either case, he could be getting one if the Yankees win this year. He appeared in 23 games for the Yankees this season, delivering a 6.26 ERA. It was about on-part with what he did for the Mets the year prior when in 10.2 innings he had a 5.91 ERA. Somehow, his record with both New York teams was 3-0.

3) Amed Rosario

Blink and you missed Amed Rosario’s tenure with the Dodgers. Acquired by the team via trade with the Tampa Bay Rays, he’d end up designated for assignment shortly after because the team no longer had room on the roster for him. Rosario did work his way into 5 games for the Dodgers, going 3 for 11 with a pair of runs batted in.

4) Duke Ellis

The Duke Ellis era didn’t last long with the Mets. A waiver claim by the Mets and twice more this past season by the Seattle Mariners and finally the Yankees, Ellis’ speed is what will keep him around baseball. He pinch ran in one postseason game which for a guy with only 11 career regular season games is quite an accomplishment. Ellis appeared in only 2 games for Binghamton before he was lost on waivers. He was a 40-man roster spot seat filler the team parted with quickly.
