3. Griffin Jax
Griffin Jax is coming off one of the most dominant relief seasons in the last five years. Over 71 innings, he supported an ERA of 2.03, WHIP of 0.87, and 95 strikeouts in 2024. While he has not been as good in 2025, giving up as many runs already as he did in all of 2024, he has been far from dissapointing. With an ERA of 3.82 over 41.1 innings, this is yet another chance for the Mets to buy low on a guy that has proven he can perform.
Jax offers not just a great bridge to closer Edwin Diaz, but also a guy who can go out and save games himself when Diaz needs to rest. In 2024, Jax saved 10 games and would be the only Met player besides Ryne Stanek with real experience saving games. Stanek has been shaky all season and is not the reliable arm closing games we saw in the 2024 playoffs.
While Griffin Jax is still under team control for two more years through arbitration, his slow first half could lower the Twins’ asking price, especially after turning 30 this season. If Stearns continues to neglect calling up Nolan Mclean or Brandon Sproat, Griffin Jax needs to be on the Mets' radar.
