2) Mickey Moniak

The Colorado Rockies are likely in full-sell mode. They are on pace for a historically bad season and have already sold stalwart Ryan McMahon to the crosstown rival New York Yankees. The next off the table could be Mickey Moniak. The former first overall pick from the 2016 draft was picked up by the Rockies before the start of the 2025 season, and his value is the highest it’s been since he was a top prospect.

In 290 plate appearances, Moniak is turning in a .259/.317/.534 triple-slash with a .360 wOBA, and 119 wRC+. Moniak has 16 home runs on the year with a .265 isolated slugging percentage. He does not walk that often, with a 6.2% BB%, and only has a 24.1% strikeout rate. On the plus side, he is in the top 76th percentile of barrel rate at 12.5%.

Most of Moniak’s production this season has been against right-handed pitching, with a .890 OPS, .375 wOBA, and 130 wRC+. He has a meager .610 OPS, .271 wOBA, and 58 wRC+ when facing same-handed hurlers. Moniak’s defense also justifies playing him at designated hitter part-time. This year, he has -10 DRS and -1 OAA in the outfield.

The biggest downside is that, like many Rockies batters, Moniak has drastic home and away splits. He has just an 83 wRC+ when on the road vs a 151 mark when in Coors Field. He does hit better against RHP on the road, with a .715 OPS and 94 wRC+, but it is still a concern. The one positive that could help him out is playing in a more stable environment. The thin atmosphere also takes a toll on players’ bodies, which wouldn’t be a concern for Moniak if he gets traded to the Mets.

Moniak has control remaining through the 2027 season. That may make the Rockies hesitant to move him, but, as stated earlier, his value is the highest it’s been since he got drafted. Moniak would be a great fit for the Rockies as a platoon DH/outfield option down the stretch if Winker isn’t coming back anytime soon.
