2) Francisco Alvarez

When it was announced that Francisco Alvarez would miss six to eight weeks with a fractured hamlet bone, many Mets fans were concerned. 2025 was supposed to be the year that Alvarez broke out and lived up to the hype he had as a prospect. But with a broken hand and the pushed timeline, was he still going to have that season? There were even concerns that he would out longer than the expected timeline.

However, Alvarez's performance on this road trip has put those fears to bed. Over the four games he started behind the dish, he registered seven hits, four RBIs, and two walks. In the Mets' 9-3 win over the Cardinals last Friday, Alvarez led the offense, driving in three runs on three hits. This includes a two-run single in the 5th to give the Mets a 6-3 lead.

His performance on the road trip has only amplified Alvarez's strong start. Through nine games, he has slashed .314/.385/.429 with one home run, seven RBIs, a 135 OPS+, and a wRC+ of 135. He has also caught three runners stealing on nine attempts. While this does not look good, it's much better than how he performed last season when he caught 14 of a possible 80. Alvarez is starting to live up to his expectations.
