These three Mets players don't feel like they'll be joining the team in the first round of the playoffs.

3) Huascar Brazoban

The only role left for Huascar Brazoban this year is to eat up innings. Theoretically useful in the playoffs in a blowout, the Mets will have enough other options with more length in their arms for this. Let’s face it. If Brazoban is getting used in the best of 3 series, they’re already cooked. A rough day on the mound on Friday confirmed the doubts many already had about his abilities. He held the Washington Nationals at bay on Saturday, but way too many blow-ups late in the season should have us thinking the former is more likely to repeat on a regular basis under the bright lights of the postseason.

Our expectation should be that the Mets roster will include multiple starters with two or three in the bullpen. Rising Apple’s Josue DeJesus predicted Brazoban would be one of the 13 pitchers the Mets bring with them into the playoffs. Give me Chris Devenski instead. He has pitched in the playoffs before and has been better. We can reconsider in later rounds when the need for a mop-up guy makes a little more sense.

You may remember Brazoban getting left behind last year, which was less of a surprise given how poorly he pitched in the regular season. This year, it's more a matter of him running out of gas. Several of his teammates have struggled as well. However, the upside of what a player like Ryan Helsley can offer them seems to be more appealing than Brazoban. There's still something to like about Brazoban. In a short playoff series with a roster that should contain guys who can give them more length, leave him out of it.
