3) Brett Baty

After a scintillating Spring Training, the hopes of a Brett Baty turnaround was one of the main early in-season storylines that could ultimately quell some of the chatter surrounding his reputability in the big leagues. While dissonants of preseason may invalidate the results Baty put up at the plate and in the field, the once highly regarded prospect showed more than enough signs that a revamped swing and position change is the de facto "change in scenery" he needed.

But much like his developmental counterpart in Vientos, Baty has started the season reminiscent of the underwhelming production during his several stints on the big-league club. At times, Baty is seen chasing well out of the strike zone or rolling over on pitches. Given Baty’s current platoon role with Luisangel Acuña and McNeil’s eventual return from injury, the opportunities he has to cement himself are dwindling and limited.

It’s fair to say that many members of the Mets faithful are rooting for Baty’s success rather than pushing him out the door. Baty has shown time and time again that his raw-left handed power is perfectly compatible with the top-heavy nature of the Mets lineup and home ballpark configuration. We have already seen Vientos and Francisco Alvarez put the pieces together and have defining moments in front of the fans. All it comes down to is Brett Baty doing the same.
