2) Starling Marte
Despite being the hero in Wednesday's walk-off win against the Phillies, Starling Marte's days with the Mets could be numbered. This should not come as a surprise if you have followed the Mets over the offseason. Ever since the Mets signed Juan Soto, they have been exploring potential trades involving Marte. It's even rumored that David Stearns had a meeting with Marte about a possible trade.
Although the Mets were not able to get a deal done in the offseason, they've tried to get as much value out of Marte as possible, pairing him in a platoon with Jesse Winker at DH. However, that has not gone the way the Mets have hoped. In 17 games this season, he has slashed .167/.280/.302 with one home run, seven RBIs, a 67 OPS+, and a wRC+ of 71.
Similar to Young, the Mets have players returning from injury who will eat into Marte's playing time. Jeff McNeil is about to be activated from the IL, and if he returns to his 2022 form, he'll need consistent at-bats. Additionally, Luisangel Acuna has earned a starting role every day. All of which could take at-bats away from Marte, causing him to be more of a bat off the bench than a platoon at DH.
