3 NY Mets players who've already proven they belong, 2 who should be gone by May 1

The Mets took a gamble on these 3 players, and it has worked out, but don't expect these two to stick around much longer.

Huascar Brazoban has been brilliant out of the bullpen

Huascar Brazoban is another reliever who has been surprisingly good for the Mets to open 2025. Brazoban at least had some success in the Major Leagues over an extended period of time prior to this season. He had tossed 121.1 innings with the Miami Marlins prior to getting traded to the Mets at the 2024 deadline but had a solid 3.56 ERA, 3.62 FIP, and 1.34 WHIP. Brazoban had a 0.67 HR/9 and 26.6% K% with the Fish but was prone to walks with a 12.1% BB%.

Brazoban struggled mightily down the line with the Mets after the trade. He only tossed 21 innings but allowed a dozen earned runs. He may have only allowed one home run, but that was the only silver lining of his tenure with the Mets heading into 2025. He only K’d 17 opponents and dished out 14 free passes.

But Brazoban has been nearly as effective as Kranick. He’s only allowed one earned run on one home run through 9.1 innings. He has also K’d eight opponents, with only one walk allowed. Brazoban has even recorded a save throughout the early part of this year.
