These injuries are hitting harder than they should.

3. Jesse Winker- DH, NY Mets

Listen, I'm not saying Jesse Winker isn't good. We all know the value he provides. He was a crucial piece of the 2024 resurgence and is a beloved figure in Queens. But with a lineup of Juan Soto, Pete Alonso, Francisco Lindor, Mark Vientos, and Brandon Nimmo, I never thought that an injury to Winker would have a ton of impact.

But the Mets are standing around waiting for runs at this point. In 27 games in June, the Mets were only able to eclipse five runs in five games. Like I said previously, unless your last name is Soto and you wear number 22, you probably didn't have a great June. Any injection of clutch hitting would be a welcome sight right now.

The Mets have been creative in recent weeks, rotating their DH spot between Starling Marte, Mark Vientos, and the now-demoted Jared Young. But it would be nice to have that proven lefty bat to plug in against southpaws, considering none of the alternatives have been working.

We shouldn't be too far away from Jesse Winker's return at this point, as he is already completing rehab assignments.

I don't want to be hyperbolic. Winker is sitting at a .239 average with just 24 appearances this season. I'm not talking about Barry Bonds here. But if Jesse Winker is anything, he is a spark plug and a clutch hitter. These are two things sorely missed in the Mets' lineup at the moment.
