3) Luisangel Acuña

The one position player who has a chance to head to the All-Star Game for the first time is Luisangel Acuña. As one of the Mets top prospects in their farm system and the April 2025 National League Rookie of the Month, he has done well so far as the team’s second baseman on both offense and defense, especially before the injury to Jeff McNeil.

Offensively, Acuña has 25 hits in his first 31 games of this season. Despite him only having three RBIs, he has been able to reach base consistently and provide the Mets quality offense at the plate. His batting average as of now is at .298, which is the second best of all the other Mets hitters, as Pete Alonso currently leads the team in that category at .349. Essentially, he his picking up where he left off at the end of last season, in which he hit .308 and put up a .966 OPS.

On the defensive side of the diamond, Acuña has flashed the leather consistently in the infield. For example, his most recent defensive highlight came against the St. Louis Cardinals on May 4, where he was playing third base and ran up to a ground ball, threw to first base, and got the third out of the inning.

Acuña can make a difference for the Mets in terms of hitters getting on base and making plays on the field. For a guy his age, he could be a very young player on the All-Star roster with great talent if he keeps it up.
