2) Andrew Chafin

Andrew Chafin has been a player the Mets have been interest in for years. It felt like every time the Mets were looking to upgrade the bullpen, whether that be in the offseason or the trade deadline, Chafin's name has always popped up. Yet despite constantly being interested in the southpaw has never found his way to Queens.

Despite Chafin constantly moving around and playing for seven different teams since the 2020 season, he's been one of the best relievers in the MLB. Over his 11 seasons in the bigs, he's pitched to a 3.42 ERA over 508.1 innings with 555 strikeouts to 215 walks, a 1.275 WHIP, and an ERA+ of 125. Truly one of the most consistent middle relievers in the game.

Even though Chafin has a lot of innings under his belt, he's still put up a solid season in 2024. He split his time with the Dodgers and the Texas Rangers, pitching to a 3.51 ERA over 56.1 innings with 70 strikeouts to 31 walks, a 1.473 WHIP, and an ERA+ 116. Although his numbers did dip when he joined the Rangers at the trade deadline, it was in a small sample size and shouldn't be much of a concern.

For years the Mets bullpen has been their Achilles heel. For years Mets fans have been haunted by an unreliable bullpen that blows games late and causes heartbreaking losses. If the Mets want to put the best team possible on the field in 2025, adding a high-end reliever like Chafin is the move to make. He'll slide in to be the eighth-inning guy, and give some insurance in case Edwin Diaz struggles.
