2) Willie Randolph

Willie Randolph was a mainstay in the New York Yankees lineup for 13 seasons and was even a captain.

Over his Yankee career, Randolph would be a highly productive top-of-the-lineup hitter, batting .275 with a .374 OBP. He would walk 1,005 times while only striking out 512 times. He also swiped 251 bases and had a 75% success rate.

Like Cerone, Randolph was 37 years old when he got to the Mets for the 1992 season…his only season with the Mets. Also like Cerone, Randolph appeared in 90 games. He had 286 at bats…hitting .252 with 2 HR and 15 RBI and only one stolen base.

Although a Yankee captain, Randolph was quiet and took a backseat to some of the larger than life Yankee star power like Reggie Jackson, Dave Winfield, and Don Mattingly over the years. But he was still very well loved as a Yankee.

As a Met, his one season was overshadowed by the presence of Eddie Murray, Bobby Bonilla, and Vince Coleman. Which is probably good because it was a disastrous season that Met fans AND Randolph, himself, would most likely want to forget.

Randolph would be more successful as a Mets manager than as a player. Although, you would never know that for the way he was treated by management at the end. Regardless, he always was viewed as a Yankee rather than be respected as a Met.
