3) J.D. Davis
J. D. Davis played for the NY Mets from 2019 until 2022 hitting 37 home runs during his time here. On August 2 of 2022 he was traded along with three minor league players to the Giants for Darin Ruf in one of the all-time worst trades ever made by the Mets. Ruf hit .152 in his short time in New York and was quickly released at season's ending. Davis spent the remainder of 2022 and all of 2023 with the Giants while slugging 26 home runs.
Davis is usually considered a man without a position. Although a third baseman by trade, he has also played some first base as well as both corner outfield positions trying to find a home. He spent most of his major league career in the National League which up until recently had not used the designated hitter, thus further limiting his playing time. The 2024 baseball season saw Davis spend time with both the Yankees and the Athletics. Between these two teams Davis could only manage a total of 142 at bats.
In 2025, J. D. Davis was invited to the Angels spring training with an opportunity to make the big club. Although he has not been exactly lighting things up this springtime, an important statistic for him is that he has 44 at bats in 24 games playing every day. His .273 batting average may just be enough to keep his powerful bat in the lineup. At long last, J. D. Davis might just have finally found himself a home.
