3 former NY Mets players who’ve already been cut from a major league roster

The MLB season is young but roster sheers don't care for these ex-Mets players.

3) Travis Jankowski

There might not have been a more unique fan favorite in recent Mets history than Travis Jankowski. He didn’t do a whole lot with the team. In 43 games and 63 plate appearances, Jankowski batted only .167/.286/.167 for the 2022 Mets. His comments about how “no one’s going to be buying my jersey” sparked teammates to united with him by wearing Jankowski jerseys.

Say whatever you will about the 2022 Mets season. They had a special kind of chemistry. You don’t win 101 games without it.

Jankowski has floated around the league a bit since leaving the Mets, successfully working his way into regular playing time with the Texas Rangers in 2023 and again in 2024. He played 7 games for the Chicago White Sox this year before they cut him. He was batting .214/.267/.214 at the time.

After seeking employment elsewhere for a few hours, Jankowski re-signed with the White Sox on another minor league deal. Common circumstances for a veteran without minor league options, he’s back to square one where he’ll hope to get recalled at some point and provide what looks to, once again, be one of the worst teams in baseball with some depth.
