2) Kyle Finnegan
One thing that every baseball fan can agree on is that you can never have enough relievers. With injuries as well as the unpredictability that comes with them, the more relievers a team has, the more comfortable you feel as a fan. Every offseason, we see teams give out one-year contracts to a ton of different relievers. Finnegan is no different, having earned a one-year deal from the Washington Nationals worth $6 million.
Finnegan has proven the Nationals were smart to sign him in the early going. Through 18 and 2/3 innings, he has a 2.41 ERA, with 17 strikeouts to seven walks, a 1.339 WHIP, and an ERA+ of 169. These numbers are in large part thanks to how efficient his four-seam fastball has become. In 2024, opponents had a .286 batting average and .429 slugging percentage against his four-seamer. However, in 2025, those numbers have fallen to a .191 batting average and a .298 slugging percentage.
Finnegan could have been the guy the Mets rely on to get saves when Edwin Diaz was not available. Outside of Diaz, the Mets' bullpen has only registered four saves, which is very concerning. With Finnegan having 15 saves this season, this is a role he could have easily slid into.
