Troy Snitker - Alex Bregman

It has become widely known how newly hired Mets hitting coach Troy Snitker had a distinctive relationship with Alex Bregman. Plenty of big time hitters suited up for the Houston Astros, but how many have stories out there about a hitting coach helping them as much as Snitker apparently did with Bregman?

Bregman would be a big buy for the Mets and the attempt to replace Alonso with a whole different kind of look to their infield. Still very capable of playing third base, it’s an exciting reunion even if it means parting ways with a homegrown favorite.

How likely is this to happen? It didn’t seem like the Mets were extensively interested in Bregman last offseason. However, there is no longer a qualifying offer penalty following him around. The same reasons Alonso should have a larger market exist for Bregman. Draft picks won’t be lost. International bonus slot money isn’t getting taken away. Bregman only costs dollars, cents, and a few years’ commitment.

Stearns probably already has a strong opinion about Bregman. Their newest pitching coach hire, Justin Willard, might have some opinions, too. More so, it’ll be pitching he can help the Mets with.
