The opponent has yet to be determined for the New York Mets in the NLCS. That’ll be decided on Friday between the San Diego Padres and Los Angeles Dodgers. Their best of five is going the full handful.

What we do know is the Mets will be the visiting team as they finished behind both Southern California clubs in the regular season. Because of this, the Mets will open the NLCS on the road in a particular region along the Pacific.

When does the NLCS take place?

The NLCS begins on Sunday October 13 and we have some start times available for the first three games.

The first two games taking place somewhere in SoCal are scheduled for Sunday October 13 and Monday October 14. It’s in these two the Mets will wear road grays.

When do the Mets play at Citi Field again?

Clear your plans completely from October 16 through Friday October 18. You’ll need the extra time to get to the Mets games. The middle three games of this series will take place on those days. The first two are guaranteed with an “if necessary” label on the third.

MLB’s playoff format of 2-3-2 to give the first and last advantages to the team with the better regular season record won’t matter all that much considering the Mets are an even .500 on the road this postseason. Perfect thus far at Citi Field, the trend has them closing things out on October 18. We can only hope so.

If not, your chance to see the Mets advance to the World Series will take place on either Sunday October 20 or Monday October 21 for games 6 and 7. Only one day of travel available, we’ll take it after the brutal finish to the season the Mets had. From Atlanta to Milwaukee back to Atlanta for two on one day and back to Milwaukee once more, the airline miles have added up for this team.
