It’s pretty easy to believe, New York Mets ace Jacob deGrom is the best pitcher in baseball at the moment.  What would this mean, if pitchers were on the 2021 MLB All-Star ballot? He’d be top shelf!

The 2021 MLB All-Star game will be one of relief after improvements have shown in our ongoing pandemic. It is refreshing to hear a roar of a crowd after a monster shot homerun for the home team! We’ve been hearing the hype around the league about All-Star favorites for this year’s midsummer classic, along with the changes to voting.  There will be 2 phases of voting before final selections are announced.

We’ve been hearing the humming about Vladimir Guerrero JR, Kris Bryant, Jose Ramirez, Mookie Betts, and more.  What about Pitchers? What about arguably the best pitcher in the game today? New York Mets ace arm, Jacob deGrom. Yes, the best pitcher in the game currently, and would absolutely blow away the ballots with the most votes.

Why would New York Mets RHP Jacob deGrom be the top-voted player if on the ballot?

The New York Mets sit at the top of the National League East, with a 35-26 record so far in the 2021 season.  This record is lead by the strength on the mound, In Jacob deGrom.  If you’ve read my evaluation report on the Mets ace, his grade scales are phenomenal; what makes it even more intriguing is deGrom’s age to improvement rate.  He’s 32 years old, with an established career behind him, and even more in the gas tank for a 2021 New York Met’s World Series push.  So far this year, we’ve seen a 6-2 record, with a low of 0.54 ERA in 11 games, 67 innings, and 111 strikeouts.

deGrom is the most exciting guy to watch right now in a New York Mets uniform or any MLB uniform that is!  Why would he be the most voted player if pitchers were on the ballot?  Each time you attend a baseball game or tune in on television you ask, “what’s the matchup?” No one’s asking, “who’s playing 1st base for each team?”.  People want to know whose hands is the fate of the game in tonight for your team.  We want to know the face-off of the night!

Growing up, watching various teams, I loved watching Roger Clemens, Roy Halladay, Pedro Martinez and more, in the All-Star festivities.  Good hitters are only good when they can hit solid pitchers.  It’d be fantastic to see deGrom face off against Vladimir Guerrero JR, Aaron Judge, and the boys!

Next. An All-Star ballot run for Pete Alonso?

I mean, who wouldn’t want to see that?  Let’s also remember, the older deGrom gets, the more intriguing he is to watch.  A starting pitcher, shoving 5+ innings, maxing 102mph at 32 years of age, with a 4.4 increase on his fastball from 2018 to now, back then, being a Cy Young award winner!  The best pitchers in the game will get the highest votes!
