Mets trade rumors with the Reds are another possibility

There are some teams out there that could become major trade deadline sellers. The Cincinnati Reds, despite having some good talent, is one of them.

A couple of different players on Cincinnati have been linked to the Mets at some point during the offseason. Starting pitchers Sonny Gray and Luis Castillo are the two who make a living throwing a baseball. Eugenio Suarez is the one we know best for his bat.

It might take a devastating injury or a huge underperformance for the Mets to sell anything for Gray or Castillo. The latter would have a much more significant asking price. Not much will change in this regard even if he’s pitching poorly. And if so, why would we even want to revisit those Mets trade rumors?

Gray does seem possible yet unlikely. The Mets have starting pitching depth. When Noah Syndergaard returns, they may have a ridiculous amount of it.

In Suarez’s case, it’s somewhat similar to Bryant. Unless the Mets honestly believe they can get more out of him than Davis, he’s probably a player we won’t see in home dugout in Flushing anytime soon.

The Reds, seemingly hoping for the best this year while prepared to go into fire sale mode if all goes wrong, are one of many teams the Mets can pluck away talent from this July. These are just three of the names we could see appear in future Mets trade rumors. I expect there to be others.
