Jared Porter and Sandy Alderson will now run the Mets, how will it work out?

There are some similarities between the new Mets GM Jared Porter and Team President Sandy Alderson. For one they are both analytical people who are very methodical in the work that they do.

I believe that Porter and Alderson can feed off each other to build a championship-caliber team. They are both smart men who have been around the game for a long time but have taken different paths to get to where they are today. Those paths will help shape the Mets team now and in the future.

Alderson has stated that even though he will be taking on more of the baseball operations responsibilities due to the lack of a President of Baseball Operations the power dynamic between himself and Porter will be flexible and it will be mostly porter who will be running the show.

This dynamic will allow Jared Porter to put his fingerprints on this team and not be a Sandy Alderson disciple while also having Sandy be the safety valve to prevent any crazy moves.

Sandy is good at what he does for sure and will one day be in the Hall of Fame,  but it is good to share different perspectives to try and put the best product on the field to win championships.

Additionally, Porter is a very intelligent person and speaks very well with a competent voice that answers the question and does not try to sell you a bill of goods just like Sandy Alderson. Sandy gives you the honest truth and won’t try to sneak something in the backdoor like other Mets front offices have done in the past. Ultimately, I envision the new Mets front office following the Sandy model more than the models of the past.

I believe that this is going to be a great marriage between Jared Porter and Sandy Alderson that can truly reach Steve Cohen’s goal of winning a championship in three to five years.

When Steve Cohen officially bought the Mets there was a lot of excitement surrounding this team and with the hire of Jared Porter as the new Mets GM the excitement continues to grow and I think that the Mets could have something really special right over the horizon.
