Mets: Three Michael Conforto predictions for the 2020 season
By Michael Calascione

Conforto hits 40 home runs in 2020
In 2019 Michael Conforto set a career-high in home runs with 33. Each year of his five-year career thus far he has increased his home run total and 2020 will be no different. If Conforto can start the 2020 season like he finished the 2019 season, then a lot of things will go right for not only Conforto but for the Mets as well.
To date, Conforto’s biggest flaw has always been his slow starts to seasons and that has held him back from being widely considered one of the top players in baseball. However, with the way the ball is “juiced” and the sweet effortless swing Conforto has there is no reason why he cannot hit at least 40 home runs assuming he stays healthy and is a consistent hitter.
In order to reach a goal of 40 home runs Conforto would need just seven more home runs in 2020 than he hit in 2019 and in 2020 he may get to see better pitches depending on where he hits in the lineup partly because the league now knows what Pete Alonso is capable of and will want to pitch to him as little as possible.
This fact will allow other Mets players in the lineup to benefit and Conforto needs to capitalize on this opportunity. By getting better pitches to see and having more of a selective approach at the plate hopefully, Conforto can convert some of the strikeouts into productive hits, especially home runs.
