New offseason New York Mets rumors are appearing daily. Late on Tuesday, we learned the team is getting more aggressive in a pursuit for J.T. Realmuto and A.J. Pollock.

Who said the New York Mets were done adding players after the trade with the Seattle Mariners? According to recent Mets rumors, the team is after a pair of players and they are willing to get aggressive in the pursuit.

First, there’s Miami Marlins catcher J.T. Realmuto. Fans love to see his name appear in any of the Mets rumors. Quite possibly the most desirable catcher available this winter, he has made it known already how badly he wants out of South Florida.

According to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic, the Mets are eager to get their hands on Realmuto. Andy Martino of SNY claims the same with Newsday’s Tim Healey even suggesting any trade would require the Mets to surrender either Michael Conforto, Brandon Nimmo, or Amed Rosario.

There’s sure to be more information about these developing Mets rumors. We can only speculate at the cost for one of the game most well-rounded backstops in the game.

Unfortunately, the Mets aren’t the only ones after Realmuto. The division-rival Atlanta Braves and Philadelphia Phillies want to get their mitts on him as well. However, as we’ve heard in the past, the Marlins do not sound willing to trade him anywhere within the division.

More possible than a trade for Realmuto is yet another one of the Mets rumors circulating the web late on Tuesday. Per Jim Bowden, the team is now looking at free agent outfielder A.J. Pollock. They’ve already been in touch with his agent and Brodie Van Wagenen said he’d be a good fit.

Pollock may not intrigue fans nearly as much as Realmuto. After all, his injury history is something that cannot be ignored. When healthy though, he has the potential to be one of the best center fielders in the game. Considering how much players on the current roster have struggled with this, it’s no wonder fans don’t seem eager to bring him to town.

As with any Mets rumors, we can only take these with a grain of salt. Of course, they want Realmuto and would have an interest in signing Pollock for the right price. It’s all a matter of finding the best fit without believing you’ve been duped by another general manager or agent.

Between the two, Pollock is far more attainable because that’s needed is money. I also don’t think Nimmo is enough to entice the Marlins into making a trade and neither is Conforto.

Miami wants younger, more controllable players. Rosario might intrigue them enough as should Andres Gimenez and Peter Alonso. Ultimately, I see the Mets coming up way too short in making a trade for Realmuto happen.

Pollock, on the other hand, could be in center field for the Mets on Opening Day.
