Mets: Asdrubal Cabrera may reach multiple career bests
Closing out the 2017 season, Asdrubal Cabrera was on a roll with the Mets. Nearly two months into the 2018 season, that streak multiplied.
Before Asdrubal Cabrera joined the New York Mets, he had nine big league seasons under his belt. More than a thousand hits and a hundred home runs. He had some pretty good seasons before coming to Flushing.
However, if his start keeps up, none of those seasons can compare to his 2018 run. During Sunday’s game against the Phillies, Cabrera added another two hits to his resume. One was a single and the other was a double. He also drove in one run.
Recording multiple hits in a game has been a common occurrence for Cabrera lately. This was his fifth multi-hit game of May and 16th of the season. This was on May 13th.

Last season by May 13th Cabrera only had four multi-hit games. His 16th such game of the season came on July 22nd. It was a similar situation in 2016, with his 16th such game taking place on June 11th.
His 47 hits through 37 team games puts Cabrera on pace for 205 hits for the season. His career high currently sits at just 165. The last time Cabrera finished a season batting above .280 was in 2009.
That year he hit .308 and currently his average is .329.
In the power department, Cabrera has hit six home runs so far. He is on track to finish the season with 26 home runs. If he does, it will also be a new career best for him.
Cabrera is also on track to reach a new career best in runs scored, in which he might be able to crack 100 for the first time.

Fielding wise, Cabrera has only made one error so far, which is also a really good sign. Last season, split between all positions, he went on to make 17 errors.
